There’s so much to look forward to every winter season. Socializing with friends, visiting family and loved ones, volunteering and enjoying the arts are just a few of the things we all can look forward to. But the one thing no one ever looks forward to is a serious illness. That’s why the Eldercare Locator’s 2023 Home for the Holidays campaign is focused on connecting older adults, caregivers and families with information on vaccines and local resources that can help make getting vaccinated easy.

Vaccines are safe and help prevent serious illness. Staying up to date with vaccines not only protects your health, but it protects your loved ones and others in your community. As we age, our immune systems may gradually weaken, increasing our vulnerability to specific illnesses. It’s crucial that all of us, especially adults age 60 and older, stay up to date with vaccines.

The Home for the Holidays campaign includes a brochure, Start Your New Season of Wellness: A Guide to Vaccinations for Healthy Aging, and a vaccine fact sheet, which highlight the important and potentially life-saving role vaccines play in helping older adults stay healthy. They also connect older adults to local, community-based resources that can help them get vaccinated. Learn more about the campaign and find printable versions of campaign materials in both English and Spanish.

Do you need help getting vaccinated? Use the Eldercare Locator to find a local Area Agency on Aging, Title VI Native American Aging Program or other organization that can help you get started.
